Graduated in 1988 from the Department of Architecture, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). He completed Master of Urban and Regional Planning program at the University of Hawaii, USA in 1992 and Doktor-Ingenieur (Dr.-Ing.) in urban planning and design from the Universität Kaiserslautern, Germany in 2001. In 1993-1994 he took additional training in Geoinformation System for Urban Application at the Universiteit Twente, the Netherlands. He became an assistant professor in the Architectural Design Research Group (ADRG), at the School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development at ITB in 2005, and is currently the head of Undergraduate Programme in Architecture. His courses include architecture and urban design, and introduction to information technology. His main research interests are architectural design method and urban design control in Indonesia. His articles have been published in a book On Asian Streets and Public Space (NUS, 2010), various seminar proceedings and newsletters.
